“Igniting Leadership and Connection: Highlights from the Rise Up Summit & SBC Backpack Giveaway”

Imagine a room buzzing with energy, filled with eager teens, parents, and community leaders—all gathered to inspire and uplift the next generation. This was the scene at the Rise Up Summit & SBC Backpack Giveaway, an event that combined powerful discussions, engaging activities, and generous giveaways to create an unforgettable experience.

Inspiring Leadership and Deep Discussions

The event kicked off with a dynamic discussion led by Rev. Anthony Ancrum, who, along with panelists London Miller (founder), Semaj, Mikayla, and Micahai, engaged the audience in a lively exchange of ideas. The conversation touched on various aspects of leadership, with one particularly thought-provoking question from the moderator leading to an exploration of parent-child interactions. It was revealed that parents, as leaders—whether positively or negatively—can sometimes unknowingly contribute to bullying behaviors due to generational disconnects.

The audience was fully involved, sharing their experiences and insights. The dialogue was so compelling that we had to cancel the planned breakout sessions to allow more time for this rich exchange of ideas.

Collaborative Efforts and Engaging Activities

Geri Belle, who collaborated with us in organizing the event, played a crucial role in ensuring its success. Pastor Jackson, the lead pastor of Second Baptist Church, made a surprise appearance, adding to the excitement and significance of the day.

Following the thought-provoking discussions, attendees enjoyed a delicious array of food, allowing everyone to relax and connect. Every student left with a backpack filled with school supplies, an event t-shirt, and a swag bag full of exciting goodies. The DJ kept the energy high with upbeat music, turning the gathering into a vibrant celebration.

Keynote Speech and Closing

To cap off the day, Harold Ford of the NAACP delivered a rousing keynote speech that resonated deeply with everyone present. His powerful words on leadership and the importance of community engagement left a lasting impression, perfectly concluding an inspiring day.

A Day of Unity and Empowerment

The Rise Up Summit & SBC Backpack Giveaway was a testament to the power of community and the importance of empowering our youth. The engaging discussions, led by Rev. Ancrum, highlighted the critical role of leadership within families and the broader community. The event left everyone feeling inspired and equipped with the tools to foster better relationships and become effective leaders in their own lives.

A heartfelt thank you to CEATT, Be Strong, and the Youth Ministry at Second Baptist Church for their unwavering support. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected community and empowering the next generation to rise up and lead with confidence.
